the saw blood drive began in 2004 as a marketing tool for the first film, but after receiving a significant amount of donations, the crew decided to continue the tradition of giving a pint of blood in exchange for a free ticket to see the new film. lionsgate partnered with the american red cross to help save an estimated 360,000 lives; as of the saw vi campaign in 2009, 120,000 pints of blood have been donated.
in 2017 with the release of jigsaw, the campaign decided to focus on the restrictive nature of blood donation rules for LGBT+ individuals and featured many LGBT+ models as the “saw nurses” of the new campaign. the jigsaw “all types welcome” blood drive encouraged fans of any gender or sexuality to donate blood and fought back against discriminatory practices by the FDA.

if you lose your job because you decided to participate in an unorganized general strike that wasn’t backed by a union just because you saw it on twitter; good luck charlie
these are the people who are attempting to run your october 15 strike
don’t give these people your money if they ask
and they’re not afraid to work with white supremacists either
stop asking these people to join a union and to work with unions because they are anti-union
i was actually banned from this server because i asked too many questions,
mainly like how are you going to talk to locals in your community who don’t have access to tiktok, twitter, tumblr, discord, who don’t have smartphones, who proudly call themselves democrats and would vote for biden again
in which one of the mods responded with a link to reddit (where the idea for this october 15 strike was birthed)
and i asked too many questions in regards to one of the mods wanting to involve ‘qanon’ and several people decided to voice their opinions including other mods
Anyway, video game emulators are super important when it comes to preserving video game history and without emulator tech we may see a disappearance of decades of video game history within a matter of years.
When we look back at art history, most of what we see from centuries ago is what the wealthy felt should be preserved. I don’t want to see the same thing happen to very early video games within the next few decades.
I want all games to survive and be preserved and remain playable. I don’t want just a handful that the rich considered to be historically significant to survive the test of time. I want people hundreds of years in the future to be able to see and play the obscure weird games from the 1970s and 80s and even games we play today. All video games are interesting and significant and are works of art. Game emulators let them all survive. And as technology progresses, having the files saved on game emulators will allow those games to continue to survive and be transferred to newer ways to preserve digital information. Restricting games to just the original cartridges that are 40 years old and dying will just cause countless games to disappear forever.
It’s just a fact that it won’t be very long until we start to study video games like we study artworks, literature, music, plays, film, and television. We should have learned our lesson about not preserving works decades ago. So much of human history and culture has been lost due to lack of preserving “insignificant” works. We should not allow the same thing to happen to video games.
